Reinshaw - How often to you check runout

As the title states how often do you check the runout of your probe?

I've been pulling my hair out with a part where the indexing lines were significant ... the probe was the last thing I checked and it had nearly .7mm

I adjusted it (not the quickest thing I've ever done) but now yoy can hardly see them

I guess I'll know next time but was curious how often people check it.

    Thanks ... Paul

You check it when you have a problem (like you did). But probe should stay good as long as no-one hits it or crashed it

If I was a daily operator/user, I would probably like to check it monthly just to know where it is at or at least until you can determine a reliable pattern of use. For most though, it is usually after a problem shows up.

Don't forget to check your tool setter from time to time also.

probes will get you burned. I came in one morning the guys in the shop
said your program cuts out of center. he cut three dies that night all scrap.
I said I'll bet you picked every one up with the probe use an indicator next time.
trust no one if someone bumps the probe they probably will not tell you

Thanks Guys appreciate the advise ... I'll keep an eye on it to determine a pattern but as a minimum I'll check it before running any batch job ... I can live with one part wrong but to find a batch ruined wouldn't be good.

    Thanks again .. paul
