    Pilot Arc IGBT

    Jim,

    I spoke with Jason today in Tech-support and he explained the possibilities of a failed IGBT.

    I have a G3-1650 machine and was hoping that you can give me the part number for this item.
    Also, what is the procedure, using a volt meter to test and see if this transistor has failed?
    I did the 5-10 cuts using a 60A nozzle/electrode with a drag shield. The tip looks Ok but I with the age/hours I have on this machine my curiosity has got me thinking.

    You need to disconnect the IGBT to do this test.
    It does not test current carrying ability, but will at least tell you the gate works as it should.

    I know this is a late post. that IGBT is made by Semikron, it has been discontinued and they do not have a functional equivalent.
    So when hypertherm's stock is depleted we're S.o.L.
