    Haas VF3 Toolunclamp alarm

    Hi
    I have a Haas VF3 from 2006

Tool clamping is some times delayed, it is as if the valve is too slow to go back.
Drawbar has just changed. so that's not the problem.
Could it be the solenoid valve?
Any of you who have had the same problen?

    Regards Flemming

Most common cause is a dirty exhaust fitting for the solenoid. To test, just remove the exhaust and try the unclamp. You can also check to make sure the precharge solenoid is not stuck on; try disconncting the precharge air line to test.

    Good luck!

You can also check your precharge solenoid by taking a piece of plastic tube in line with your precharge air supply with a regulator on it. In MDI type #1120=1 and press cycle start. It will say tool unclamp and the regulator should read 40 PSI. I have had that solenoid go out alot. Most of the time you will hear a popping sound prior to it going out when a tool change occurs. Just hit RESET to turn the solenoid off.

DO NOT SET PRECHARGE TO 40 PSI!!!

Precharge should be at 4 PSI max. If you have to much precharge you run the risk of damaging tool changer parts or the tool falling out of the spindle.

    from the service disk manual

    1. Turn the air pressure regulator down to zero (0). The knob must be pulled out to unlock before
adjusting. In-Line drive machines - Disconnect the air hose from the precharge regulator. Install
a test gauge between the regulator and the solenoid. Command the precharge (Macro #1120-1),
the precharge pressure should be 30 psi.
    NOTE: At "0" pressure on

30 psi is for SS machines only!

The OP did not spec an SS machine.
