    ALM 151 ON MV40 YASNAC MX2

I continue to get this ALM 151 every second or third tool change I make. I've never had this problem or any problems with the tool changer. My MV40 is a 1987 with yasnac mx2 controller. Any ideas on this guys?

Furthermore, it still goes to make the tool change but stops halfway and sometimes goes ahead and does the full tool change, only to error out with this alarm 151.

all the manual tells me is that LS14 isn't on when going to make the tool change. How can I find LS14 and try to diagnose the problem? Or should I just call a tech?

Should be a placard on the machine showing where all the LS (limit switch) are. If not, look in the electrical manual, it will show very clearly what the switch is for.

Have you ever seen this alarm before under the tire?

Probably, seen 1000's of Mori alarms over the years. Problem is, not to many Yasnac Mori's.

Not sure on that vintage (about when they were changing) if it is a cam ATC or a rack and pinion. Does the machine have a hydraulic unit?

please excuse my lack of knowledge on the machine, but I am not sure. What kind of hydraulic unit are we speaking of? I have the manual at home and can look it up

It would have a fairly loud motor with a 10-15 gallon tank in back.

    Without prints....
i'm guessing it's the pot up/down switches. One is sticking. I believe on the old machines they are a Yamatake Honeywell SL1A available from All World Machinery for ~$30 each. Replace both.

I really appreciate the help! If i manually move the pot up, pot down in ATC manual mode will that give me any indication of whether or not this is my issue?

Is there a way to turn the ATC off and manually load the tools. I know I can change parameters to do this but after looking at the parameters page in the book it was not clear to me how to completely shut down the ATC. I really need to run out the parts I have before working on the ATC!!! and will manually load tools if i could just turn the ATC off.

Now it has stopped alarming on tool change BUT now it is misaligned. When it goes to change the tool it is too low and sometimes hits the holder and alarms out OR it takes the holder and throws it because it is not grabbing it properly. This thing is killing me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

underthetire, are these problems still consistent with the pot up/down switches you spoke of before?

Throwing it from spindle side or magazine side?

It is like it doesn't have ahold of it when it goes to take it out of the spindle. I took all my tools out of magazine so I dunno if it would throw it out from magazine side. Put it this way, it has changed the tool from magazine to spindle but throws the tool from spindle to magazine every time now. It has been too low and hit the holder when trying to unclamp

Time to get a tech in.
    Possible scenarios
    1. Z axis is off, needs a grid shift and or re zero
    2. Collet has slipped on the main atc arm
    3. Broken cam bearing in the ATC assembly, allowing the arm to sit to low. This is the most likely if the arm has been out of adjustment and run too long like that. This can also cause intermittent tool unclamp alarms. This is not an easy fix.

is there any easy way to shut off the ATC so that I can manually input tools and run the machine until I can get the tech out?

Nope. Just change all the m6 to m0.

it doesn't need the m06 to register the tool and comp for it?
