    Floating torch head travel?

    Hey guys

    I'm getting ready to start building my new Z axis which will also have a floating head. I was just wondering how much travel the head needs to have and how much is too much?

    It does not need much movement really, just enough to trip the switch.

    That slide should give you plenty of movement for a floating head. I have my switch set up on a slotted mount so I can move it up and down and generally my head floats about 1/8"
