BF20 style mill and boring head

So I just got a tts boring head. I have never used a boring head and I am not a machinist by any means. I understand that with the use of the boring head, as you move the boring bar farther from center it becomes more unbalanced. Is the proper way to use this with a bench top mill like a BF20 just to slow the spindle down to reduce the issues with balancing? Do they make something to offset this balancing problem with boring heads?

How big are the holes? I do mostly ~1" holes on mine and just keep the RPMs to 1000 or less and it's fine.

Tormach has a couple good boring head basics videos.

I was just using it on a hole about an 1 in diameter to test it out.

They do make twin head boring bars that maintain balance. We used them a lot on VMC's where I used to work. They had 2 indexable inserts, one on each side. used mainly for roughing though.

I have in the past put a rod hanging out of the opposite side to help with balance.
