Torch height controller for oxy fuel

I finally have my flame cutter working and making money with it. So now it is time to make it better

I was looking on the cnc4pc website and found a capacitive torch height controller for oxy fuel and plasma torches. Has anyone used one? Do they work?

I went into a dedicated oxy cutting facility last week They cut 100 ton per day) and they didn't have a THC on a machine that I was watching. It was about 20x60ft in length and was cutting 300mm MS.

In terms of material thickness when is it critical to have a THC when oxy cutting?

I would be interested in these if people have any experiences:

Information on either the Hypertherm THC

Sensor OHC (Oxygen Height Control) | Hypertherm

    or

    Capacitive Sensor

    Thanks

My problem is the slag buildup on the slats. The plates that I cut are usually 4 x 8 or 5 x 10, And 1 good chunk under the plates will raise a corner of a 1/4 inch or more.

    Hello Steve,
Agelkom's (@cnc4c) capacitive height controller is suitable for your application.
Also Techserv (in UK) use this sensor for their multi head flame cutters.
    Pictures attached.

    Best regards,

    Hi Steve,
Yes, it works for both. Please look
Capacitive Sensor and view Edge Cutting Test video

    Hi Steve,
Do you use THC to cut steel plate with oxy/acetylene?

No. Right now I have to manually adjust the torch height using the up and down buttons.

You flame cutter has 3 hoses or 2 hoses? I have victor with 2 hoses. Do you think this 2 hoses flame cutter good enough for piercing? I have not tried it yet.
