Wondering what software is available to create aluminum gears. These are gears similar to a bicycle style front gear. These gears are about 8" in diameter and about .100 thick and are about 75 to 85 tooth. The pitch is 219 if that means anything. My son races go karts and these are the gears we run. I thought if I could make our own gears maybe it would save us a little money. The gears we run cost about $17-20 each. Most are anodized aluminum but some are made of a composite material. The aluminum ones usually last about 4 races and have to be replaced.

Preferably a free or cheap software package. As much as we race anymore we would probably only use about 5 or 6 of them but if the quality is good enough then maybe I would try selling a few.

Sounds like you want a sprocket not a gear. Google "sprocketeer 2.0"

I made a sprocket with it but have not had the chance to use it.

Tried downloading Sprocketeer but it seems as though the site is down. Also watched the video in the link provided by Dolphin...and yes, it is actually a sprocket, not a gear. Sorry.

Keep the suggestions coming. I'm going to keep searching.
