I had requests on my Youtube channel for more information on the trials and tribulations of laser alignment so I put together a movie about it.

It's long (8 minutes) but (hopefully) there's some good info in it - I've been working with lasers of all kinds for many years and this is the technique that works best for me.

The flashes of light seem to be where the toolpaths cross.

It's the previously liberated carbon glowing white hot as the laser passes over them a second time after creation

Nice videos Steve, only suggestion I have is not using masking tape on the mirrors as when it burns through it can chuck glue vapour on the nice shiny mirrors I use 2mm acrylic in small squares that can be clipped onto the mirror holder with Bulldog clips. (They can also be precut on the laser with a crosshair in the middle)

Hey thanks - and totally with you on the masking tape - I use the brass shim (most of the time) to stop that from happening.

I use thermal paper (fax roll) kept taught across the front of the mirror by a laser cut plywood ring with a small piece cut out of it so that it is springy.
