Say not sure if this is the right spot to ask, I am looking for a hand held ? device that will measure the thickness of D2 steel and carbid steel , I need it to be able to do mm or inch and be able to get down to at least 50 millionths. I know some one somewere makes something like this any help would be awsome. Thanks Chris [email protected]

Are you cutting things with a laser, or are you trying to measure things with a hand held laser?
If it's the latter, you are in the wrong place. I'd go to the metrology forum on the practical machinist forum...
