looking for a 2 axis controller for 7x12 lathe

    Hi,

I would appreciate any links or input on an inexpensive controller ($100-200), to be used on a converted 7x12 lathe with stepper motors. Should I go with a PC controller or standalone.

Also recomdations on the size of stepper motors I should use.

    Thanks,
    Chad

Check out "CNC retrofit" on google. That is a pretty tight budget.

Probably would go PC as it is cheapest bet for the processing power. You can get decent PC's that will run a simple stepper for peanuts at a recycling center/computer show.

Suggest using DOS thru Win 98SE max as these drive LPT directly and easily.

You might have to do a lot of e-baying.
