SHS within SHS slideway, can it work?

Hi, got an idea of 150 x 150 x 9 SHS tube outer (sliding) and an 125 x 125 x 9 inner (fixed) with four 3.5mm brass plates wear strips.
As a slideway, provided all the taper is machined out of the inner SHS and the wear strips have proper lube and clearances.

Question#1 What length the outer sliding tube should be?
Question#2 Will the friction be unacceptable?
Question#3 Is this sound practice or not?

    Many thanks,
    Derek.
