CNC router type 3040 - Mach3 soft limits and coordinates

    G'day guys, I recently purchased a small 3 axis CNC router - type "3040".

Trying to set up the soft limits and the coordinate system in Mach3. I set the soft limits and "SAVED SETTINGS" OK, but I keep loosing me settings. I might be doing things in the wrong order or something.... I started by moving all axis to lower left corner of the table and set all as 0.00 on machine coords.
I then set the soft limits with slow down set at 15mm working well.
All changes to my settings saved in the menu pull down "save settings".
Not sure what I am doing wrong, maybe not clicking on the correct Mach3 screen button but loosing my soft limit settings. The soft limit setpoints move which causes one end of travel to be well away from one end of the travel and the other end crashes - note this machine does not have any limit switches - just crash to a stop. Possible following this procedure with the wrong command/setting on the wrong screen causing problems????
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks guys...

ps. I also have a 46 (45) clone mill which I am in the process of converting to CNC so this problem may also apply to that machine - we will see....

Hit Alt-5 (offsets) and save work offsets.
If you exit the program and restart are the settings persistent?
Bottom right corner of general logic configuration axis DRO properties.
    Is the .XML file readonly?
Main screen: is the softlimits button selected ON?

    G'day "Neilw20",

Yes the soft limits of displayed as on - just the endpoints "move". I will check when I get home tonight to make sure I am saving settings correctly.
I am doing these settings with no g-code loaded - I assume this is OK....

    Thanks for your comments,

    Regards,

    Jim

    Jim,
Get it all working using just MDI and the cursor keys.
The softlimits always work correctly with the cursor keys, once setup correctly.
Follow what is in the Mach3 manual. Make sure machine is not missing steps.
