I would be interested to hear what the community thinks about this Kickstarter project. I'm not the owner of the project I'm currently just a backer at the lowest level.

I went to kickstarter and searched for aluminum and found it, along with everyone making aluminum pens and making 16,000$...... Really.... I think its time to make A pen...

I think it is a reasonable step forward from makerslide.

Similar but slightly more robust with the steel inserts.

I feel like there are already too many linear motion solutions to keep track of, but this one certainly seems like a compelling choice.

Looking at the picture, it appears that the steel inserts are only supported by a 1/8" web, which would make it not very strong if trying to get a lot of preload on the V bearings.

It looks to me like it'd do well for for 3d printers, or otherwise light loaded setups. It's not something that I'd put into a machine that has any kind of heavy loading.

As said above I don't see it being very strong, good for 3d printers and laser kits but I would think makerslide would be cheaper and do the job just fine. I see one big problem with it in that if they don't include the steel I could see someone sourcing their own and having problems with it not fitting correctly...

You probably could find used profile rail on eBay for cheaper, and you don't have to wait an eternity for the kickstarter to raise enough money... if he ever does. Like Gerry says, it's not donfigured in the strongest way. Using extrusion with 2 or three slots might have made more sense. Then again, using CNC Router Parts carriages and CRS bar seems sturdier, easier, and cheaper than this.
