    Gantry

can anybody help with gear reduction. I bought nema 23, 0.375 bore,600 rpm and 620 in. oz torque. Gantry will be all alum. approximately 100-120 lbs. I bought candcnc controller and the recommendation is to have 1 rotation = 1" gantry movement. I would like to have belt reduction to rack and pinion.

    Info needed:
XL Timing & Pulley Belt Size
What would be the best Rack & Pinion

I think you have posted in the wrong forum, try the mechanical engineering, calculations, design or the linear and rotary motion forums.

Post people use 20° pressure angle, 20 pitch racks, with a 1" diameter pinion geared 3:1.

This will give you just over 1" per motor revolution (pi/3).
