    Okuma MC-4VA - Rigid Tapping?

I just bought a 1990 Okuma MC-4VA. Does it support rigid tapping?

Most likely not. - It was an option - but it was a very high priced extra.

We bought new a 90/91 MC4-VAE-HS (30" X axis, 12000rpm spindle, 32 pot ATC) and at the time we thought the added cost for rigid tapping were way over the top.

We used tapmatic heads modified to fit the spindle and allow use through the ATC. I now use Tension/compression holders that use the Bilz #1 type quick change holders and the built in G84 tapping fixed cycle. Works just fine.

Thanks for the reply. I will go with a tension/compression tap holder.
