    Homemade 5 axis cnc

    I,m building a 5 axis cnc in my office and I thaught I would share some pictures of my progress What do you guys think? Thanks Tom

    Do you have a sketch of the overall plan? It's difficult to figure out where you're going with this from the photos alone?

    Also, why did you weld your adjustment bolts to the V-groove wheels or am I not seeing that detail correctly?

    vgroove adjusters

    ya crazy adjustments for testing a lota weight they have been removed and I don't even have those on the other gantry end .

    That's going to be big one Tom.
    Are the aluminum rails going to support the weight?

    No there are no aluminum rails all steele. I think you may have seen my other
    cnc it's just sitting there next to the big one because I don't have room in my shop for the both of them. The rails are 1"x2" c channel with vgroove
    bearings. Thanks for stopping by Tom

    Ok I see now, the rails are painted white. (last pic post #1)

    Jason how is your build going do you have any new picks keep me posted
    I am interested in how the belts ar working out on that double drive.

    On my first build I went with only one motor and tandem chain drive it works great check it out at my website there are some videos of it in action.

    There will be no double belt drive Tom. Two 5 start screws will be run with two motors for Y axis.

    The X will run a single motor with a belt drive.
    More pics should be out later this week.
