X3 Chuck holder wont go into the spindle.

    Hey All,
I have been switching between my collet holder and my chuck holder on the X3 for years now. Today when I went to put in my chuck holder, it wouldn't go in. I filed the top a touch to make sure the groove was easy for the pin to align with. But no go, it only goes into the spindle about half way. I used my calipers and everything measures the same between my collet holder and my chuck holder. Do any of you know what might be causing this?

Take a good look at the aligning pin. Also dykem or high spot blue will usually help identify the problem area.

Today I took the machine down to the spindle so I could get a better look at the pin. While I was in there I polished up all the parts and repacked the bearings. She is running smoother than ever and it turns out that all I needed to do was polish the end of the chuck holder. Guess it had fallen off the table a few too many times.
