    Laser carriage not moving

My Alpha LE950 Laser carriage is not moving.
Carriage moves manually with power off, Limit switches test is ok, Voltage test shows steppers are OK. Work area is correct
On the Main board the run light is off ...it only lights on power up.
On startup it beeps for about 10 sec. then later another beep like it's doing it's startup routine but the carriage does not move.
Laser is not firing either, Preadjust or test is not working.
Door sensor and water pump switch are working.

    Any help appreciated

Check all connections are secure, connected and corrosion free.

    Check any fuses.

    Carriage not moving

Hi Bec, connections etc. seem to be ok.
On the Main board the run light is off ...it only lights on power up.
When I press the left arrow key after manually moving the laser to the centre of the work area it says overstep area.
    Thanks for your reply.

Sounds like a positional error and the machine thinks it's going outside of the work area...

I'm not familiar with that model of laser though, what software does it run on?

    best wishes

Hi Dave, Software is called Alphacut.
On startup laser beeps for about 10 sec. then later another beep like it's doing it's startup routine but the carriage does not move.
Recomendation is to change the main board but at $1250 and display board $215.
    Appreciate your reply.

May not be getting it's home signal, what sensors are there at the machines X / Y zero point?

If it can't get to its datum it may not allow movement (it won't know where it is) I'm not familiar with this type of machine but there are some generic things that can be looked at.

    best wishes

    Dave

ps: some pics may be useful, the home sensors, general layout etc

Hi Herby, I don't know the name of the board. I presume it's a dedicated board.
When I try to post atc. here I get invalid attachment specified ...from cnczone.
The carriage does not move at all. When I press the Left or Up Arrow keys it says ''Overstep Area''. Just noticed the Battery is not updating the clock and only tests 1v. ....don't know what other info it holds.
    Thanks for your reply.

    Hi Dermot,

I had a good dig around with the mail details you sent, I'm pretty sure there are some parameters that are set wrong or have been lost / corrupted due to the low battery,

"Overstep area" again appears to be the laser trying to operate outside of what it thinks is the cutting area, leave it with me a couple of days and I'll try and get more info from the manufacturers

    best wishes

Hi Dave, Changed the Battery but it made no difference.
These settings are from the Supplier.
    Working area = X:00800 Y:00400 Z: 00100 Range Limit = X,Y,Z = Yes
    New settings for Switch space = X=000.00, Y =+00.00 switch = 01min.
Originally Switch space was set to X=048.50, Y=+00.00, Switch=020min
Originally Pulse was 20995 and now set to Pulse 12800
    X Axis 032.00, Y Axis 032.00 Z Axis 032.00
IRF X: +000, Y: +000, IRFYN OFF. HOME POSITION SETTING ‘YES’.
    Range Limit = X,Y,Z = Yes Feeding Pause=No
Speed: Home=120, Jog move=080, Fast move=150, Z Axis=028 Speed settings are not confirmed
The bed is rigid type and the laser head is adjusted manually.
    Thanks again for your reply.
