    Y axis just stopped moving

I'm new user to Mach3 however my machine has been running just fine until last week. I used it 1 day and then the next day turned it on to use it and the Y axis wouldn't move. The computer screen shows it's moving and thinks it's moving but the CNC will only move the X and Z. I've replaced the cable just in case but that had no effect. I've gone over all my settings and nothing seems to be different. What would cause the Y axis to stop moving for no reason? I'm stuck.

It's hard to say, from the limited info you provide, but there are several things that could cause that.

A wire that's broken or come loose

    A driver that's burned up

A motor that's shorted out or failed mechanically

A computer failure, probably in the parallel port

    Corruption of your Mach installation

    A jammed mechanism somewhere

To narrow the problem a little further, turn off everything, wait a bit, and then switch the Y leads with another axis that's working. Does the problem follow the leads, or stay with the Y axis?

switch the y to the x and see if it works, if it does its the drive, it could be a bad connection,, parts can be had froom a reputable dealer in Chicago

Finally have new power supply to stepper motor drivers on the Y and YY axis on Vortech and new drivers, the Y axis is moving HOWEVER it's not moving even. It acts like 1 side is moving at a different speed when you try to jog. Something isn't quite right but not sure where to go from here.

    my name is john.
I have a 5x10 vortech router and have had some problems with my y axis.
My shop has been down for 3 weeks.
Need some help. Inside the machine they are 4 black boxes (stepper motor drivers, mine are CW250) labelled x z y yy axis. At the bottom of the driver box labelled y axis there is a small red box with 3 white switches labelled 1 2 3 (refers to M1 M2 M3) and the yy axis driver box has the same labelled 1 2 3 switches. Can you please tell me what are the setting of these switches? That's all I need to get machine back in operation. please.

    email: [email protected]
    Thanks. John
