What is the best way to upgrade from 9 to the new 6

Would it help to team up with other machine shops in the area.

Can you buy more than one seat.

    Any tips would be helpful.

Maybe a little background would help.

    Are you a business owner?
    Do you currently own V9?
Is this just for your employer to purchase?

The generic answer which worked way back when I did it was to have MCAMX and MC9 and still make money if you are in a crunch with V9 but use X as much as you can to get proficient then throw 9 into the deepest hole you can find.

    1. I don't know what you mean by "team up with other machine shops"

    2. Yes

    3. DON'T waste money on expensive ipods. Simply think of your favourite tune and hum it. If you want to "switch tracks", simply think of another song you like and hum that instead. (you said ANY tips :wee

You might can get a vendor to give you a price break if you get guys to team up and all purchase at the same time. But I doubt it will be much of a discount. It is not like you will be getting 10 seats for the price of 5.

Mastercam for Solidworks is a separate +$7,000 purchase and very broken.

    Definitely demo before you buy.

I don't have time to, sorry. If you get a chance to use it for a while, you'll figure it out.

Ya I would like to know what is so Broken about it to. Now as a discount dealers offer multi seat discounts when you buy more then one seat inside the same company.
Now as for multible shops buying at the same time not sure what they can do. all you can do is ask.
Now are you looking at a standalone Mastercam or MC4SW?

I have used X64SW and stand alone MCX6 mill level 3 for since they have been released , our shop has both and SW2013 . I have really never saw any major things that I would say are "broken" . Yes they are small things that need to be fixed like the Hybrd tool path not working correct with some shapes , but it stills works ok and I have been able to work around it all of the time . Talked with our reseller and they said it is being worked on and should be fixed soon.

I came from Bobcad to Mastercam about 5 years ago so if you want to see "Broken" software just try BC out .

As long as you understand how well it compares to your expectations before any money exchanges hands, you're doing alright.
