Does V24 pro version support a 4th axis?
Thank you------Rick
Thanks Rob
If you could explain just a little more---I think i understand Indexing
but what is wrapping?--Do you know of any indexing tutorials for BC.
I tried to follow the example in the 4th axis help menu but got stuck!!
Thanks for your reply-----Rick
This link explains how to use the 4 axis wrapping in V25:
How to Machine Using 4 Axis Wrapping
Understanding that you are using V24, the software works very close to the same way as V25, just a little bit different.
1) To setup your job tree for 4 axis wrapping you need to change your stock type. You would do this by RT clicking on Milling Stock > Edit
Change your stock type from Rectangular stock to cylindrical stock.
upload photos
Now you have done this the software is setup to convert all your tool path features to 4 axis wrapping.

Thanks for your patience Al-- The V25 Version is somwhat helpful
but not what i had in mind. I believe it is sketch oriented. I am working
with BC inside of solidworks generating model geometry.
The V24 Version you sent me was a real curve ball-(it was in a foreign
language?? I have a tutorial in my Help screen with a Model in it,
I am trying to follow it--I almost get there--but im stuck looking for
the" rotory index axis origin check box"--I wont give up i'll keep trying.
Again thanks for your patience--------Rick
If you are running bobcam v2 and using wrapping, then you need to define an axis of rotation ( I think ). So using solidworks you can create an axis. You can use the intersection of two planes to define an axis in solidworks.
It s not clear to me what version you are running. Please go to help and about bobcad. Please tell me the version and build number you are using.

Hi Al--I tried to contact you--You were busy so i left my number
with whoever answered. I finnally have gotten some success with
4-axis. Am working with BC inside of solidworks. My invoice says
Bobcam V2/mill 3x Pro. I have been following the tutorial from the
Help Menu. Its a simple sketch based 4th axis tutorial. I got it working
fine except i cant get it to rotate. I just used a simple .250 hole
back 1" from the edge as a sketch. In the simulation i get my 3"
Dia stock just fine. For the feature-Drill hole-(center drill-drill)-
Output rotary angle on--Rotation angle 0. Works just fine in simulation.
I copy the same exact feature and change the rotary angle to 90 or 180
It will not rotate-I checked the post--all the A are 0. So i tried a Pocket
feature (a large one) at rotation angle 0 it worked great you can see the stock rotate around the axis as it mills out the pocket. (The axis must be good) ? I tried it at a different angle--No success!!
WEIRD--- can you help-----Rick
Ok Al--
Is this what you need
Version 2.0.1.0 (Build 591)
Waiting to hear from you------Rick
Rick,
Dies your post processor post any rotation moves? I think it might just be a post version. Do you know the name of the post you are using?

Al---The mill i will be useing is a Hass VF-TM2. The choices of post
processors i have with the software are Hass TM or Hass VF.
I have tried both post processors on the program still it will not
rotate when assigned a rotary axis of any degrees. (as described in previous thread)--- Rick
I know we have had some issues with our post processor page on our website. I think it's up at this time. I recommend you download the HAAS OEM post.
CNC Machine Post Processors | CAD/CAM Software | BobCAD-CAM
I think the issue you have is the post you are using is not setup for a 4th axis. So even though you have defined a rotation in your CAM tree, you're not getting anything in the code.
I recently setup a new computer and do not have the HAAS OEM post to attach here.

Give this one a try. The only issue I see with it is that it does not include the newer multi axis variables so I would cross check the code after it is output.
Al----I downloaded Hass-OEM-post----got Hass-OEM-exe
opened it got Hass.millPst. I selected it in the program
Sorry- got the same results---
Just to clear some thing up.
You load a drill feaure and program a based off a schetch.
Then you save the feature load the feature select the schetch.
This time on the posting tab you change the rotray value to 90
You post you get no A moves.
Can you copy the cose you do get and post it in this thread

Well you are getting A0 with both tools so that makes me think maybe a post variable issue.... Do you know how to edit a post? I would need to look at blocks 2 and 3...

I also think its strange your gerting an A 0 on the drill cycle line and you are not gettinga Y value.
I think your cam tree is setup somewhere between wrapping and indexing.
If you are going to use the posting tab for a drilling feature to output a diffrent a value with out setting up an index system or wrapping group you can do that.
But if you have cylindrical stock setup or have defined an index system you do not edit the rotation value on the posting tab.

Al--I do not understand what you mean about useing the posting tab
to set up a feature----(what do you call the posting tab).
Anyway if you would like to edit the OEM post I think i can follow you
on that one--I opened it in note pad--- line 273 is Rotary Axis
Question about line 430 and 431--My Hass has a maximum RPM
of 4000RPM--should these lines be changed to 4000??
Let me know----Rick
