    My G0704 Setup, almost done.

Heres a quick vid of my G0704 making some chips after getting my chip tray and flood coolant setup done. Just need to get the rest of the full enclosure built and the machine will be fully done and ready to start making some money for me.

Heres some pics of the first thing I made for someone once the machine was done being CNCd.

Man, those came out great. If you don't mind could you tell us what speeds/feeds/tools you used to make those?

I used a 1/4 HSS Endmill for the pockets, 10ipm, 800rpm, 0.040 doc per step down.

Tops and bottoms were face milled with a 2" sandvik 390 4 flute cutter, 1500rpm, 15ipm.

Sides were roughed with a 3/8 carbide rougher, and finished with a 3/8 carbide altin coated end mill at 1300rpm, 0.005woc at 10ipm. If I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info. I usually don't do any steel parts, but I have a project coming up and would have to start from scratch with my feeds and speeds. I assume that the end mills were all 4F. Correct?

Yeah, all my end mills are 4flute. I have done pretty much all steel parts since I got this machine up and running. Have only really cut some aluminum just to satisfy my curiosity. All I machine at work is steel, it's the only material I really know. I would be lost if I switched to aluminum. Lol

Is that a 6" Glacern vise? How is it with the G0704? It looks huge.

Pretty much just a standard G0704 cnc conversion. 570oz motors on the X&Y, and a 906oz motor on the Z. C7 ballscrews, and motor mounts from Billy.

No, its a 5" vise. It is kinda big, looking back on it I wish I had gotten the 5" CNC vise from Tormach, it has less stick out on the back and can be laid flat on its side. But the Glacern is really nice quality, so im not to upset about it.
