    Cheap magnetic DRO as linear encoder?

    Im no electronics guru, but it seems to me like this would be a huge problem. Despite this I cant find anyone who's done it. I have several of the magnetic slider DROs that are popular on ebay. Id the Klop or Kanalog capable of utilizing these as positioning devices for servos? If so, then put me down for 2 of each...

    Here's an example of the DROs' im talking about. They plug into the display via a mini USB.

    Yeah they didnt seem to have any luck, along with the characteristic lack of support/ discussion on the subject

    Those are fine for manual positioning but they don't update near fast enough for CNC use.
