Hi

I have Colchester lathe with fanuc 210i-T, few days ago problems started occuring.
When I am starting machine often only come blank screen and do not move or anything, but rarely
when it boots up screen is all scrambled full of artefacts.
I removed control and it has two rows of LED's and in one row red LED is ON beneath of it is written "sfail".
This LED only glow red when machine do not boot up.

that means SYS FAIL
the Fanuc 210i maintenance manual says the motherboard or display control card may be faulty.
so basically you have a major hardware failure.

if that problem display was on a standard PC I'd immediately say the fan mounted on the video card has failed and the video card has cooked itself. so you may want to look at the video card first.

I will look into it, but this fanuc PC have passive cooling on processors and have two small vents that blows on the whole motherboard.
Last few days it works, but there are vertical lines on screen.

I thought that error is sram because man who services cnc machines told me that this LED means that.

And paperwork of machine was lost so i canot look in manual (sarcastic smile).

I strongly recommend a SRAM backup in BOOT mode when the control starts normally before you lose all data. That control does have a display module, which may be the problem.
