I previously posted this in the Smithy forum, but got no response.

I have a 3 in 1 Mill/Drill/Lathe that I would like to add some sort of DRO to. Since I have practically no money, I am looking at the Grizzly
H8176 Cutting Depth Digital Readout for G0516 at $159.95 +SH

This is similar to one that Little Machine sells but appears to have solved the interference between the displays that keeps the compound from turning around.

Does anyone have any experience with this display and or the installation on the Enco, a Harbor Freight, the Smithy or other similar 3 in 1 machines?

As far as I can tell the overall dimensions of the cross and compound are similar and I do have a milling machine to modify the mounts if it is possible actually install this on my machine.

The best thing to do is to buy some of those cheap Chinese scales on eBay with the remote display and make your own mounts. Like these here:

I don't know about a diameter function for the lathe, but simply multiplying by 2 isn't a big deal for most people.

Found a posting someplace on the net that points out that these do not have any form of backlash compensation. They would not be that useful. I will be going with sliding scales. just need to find the money.
