    Extra Long Reduced Shank Drill

    I am looking for a 41mm drill with a 1/2" shank OAL - 8" - 9" for drilling hole 7" deep, material is aluminum.

Any suggestions on where I can buy this ?

If not, suggestions on ways to drill this hole (not a thru hole) using a different tool.

    Thanks

I would invest in an insert style spade drill. Works good for things like this. MSC has a style of insert here: Spade Drill Inserts - Indexable Cutting Tools | MSCDirect.com

Just pick the one you want and match it to a holder, should be good to go

Do you have a lathe ? Make an extender shaft from 3/4" rod.

Drill and ream 0.500" in one end and turn the other to 1/2"
Use 2 set screws and make a small flat on the drills shaft.
