    Milling / Drilling painted aluminum

I have some .063 and .100 fairly well paimted aluminum. Probably was powder coated. I need to mill some slots and pockets. I have no idea how to do this.
    Using a Tormach 779.

    Thanks
    Steve

You have a mill, an end mill and a vice or some way to hold down the job what more is there to know?
Is the powder coat a problem?
It may chip when the end mill starts cutting, to find out do a test cut.

    Steve,

We do it all the time without much problem. I use paper or something under clamps or between the jaws and the part so the paint doesn't get scratched. Be sure your coolant won't harm the paint and don't let chips get wrapped aronud the end mill.

    Good luck,
    Jim
