[Highway Man]

I would like to make gears, but I don't know what kind of machine to get or the best place to buy it at. This is my list of like to haves
1 - computer controlled.
2 - software to design the gear
3 - design basic spur gears 12" in diameter
4 - not have to take out a second mortgage to buy the machine
5 - fine precision with low backlash

There could be other requirements but this is all I can think of right now.

What material and gear pitch? what is the application?

Lots more info needed really, you don't need a huge gear hobbing machine to make wooden clock gears, and a cnc router won't cut steel gears that need fine pitch.
