    Tormach pcnc 770 advice

I'm about to place an order for a new pcnc 770. Id like to buy a used one but they don't seem to be available. I found a guy that was looking to sell his but when I offered him $0.75 on the dollar he didn't even respond. I guess that was too low to even talk in his opinion.

Any advice for a new owner? I seem to remember some 3rd party tool holders being available but can't find them now. Is the $500 tormach coolant tank much better than the $160 one Grizzly sells?

    Thanks
    Hyrum

75c would be fair for anything short of a brand new machine. Any more and I'd buy new. The tormach coolant tank and pump are nothing special. The $500 may include other enclosure parts though which you might want.

I would go homemade coolant setup if your not buying the deluxe stand.

Skip the coolant tank all together. For $500 you can make something much nicer. Check out some of the shower-curtain-enclosure builds on the forum here.

Or just get a dual head Fogbuster. Much better investment.

If you want a really good flood coolant system, get the $30 Harbor Freight 900 GPH sump pump, a $15 14-gallon translucent storage container from Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, etc, use garden hose and fittings to plumb it all up to a couple of 1/4" LocLine nozzles, and you'll have a first-rate coolant system for peanuts. I've been using exactly that on both of my mills, and it runs circles around the "professional quality" coolant system I spent $380 for. I also use 5 gallon buckets will lotsa holes drilled in them, and a cut-up furnace filter in the bottom, to filter out all the chips, so they don't get re-circulated, and clog the nozzles.

For coolant, I highly recommend Ruslick WS-5050. GREAT stuff!

Thanks for the info. I stopped by Harbor freight today to scope out thier pumps. Not sure if I'll do it that way yet.
