converting dwg to dxf the safest is the autodesk trueview
that can convert between versions of autocad and dwg-dxf vice versa.. see autodesk website for download..

theres yet draftsigth, you can open and edit dwg-dxf files.. very much compatible with autocad..
see dassault systems website..

draftsight also export pdf.. pdf basically equal with ai or eps format.. vectors are stored same way pdf-eps-ai

but... pdf can contain only vectors that laying on x-y plane.. if you have a dxf polygon, or faces, you cant export into pdf or eps or ai..

also, within conversion due to dwg using b splines and adobe using beziers, curves will be parted at nodes.. so after conversion need to rejoin curves..

how did you get dwg files .. because where dwg can be written, those programs can write dxf same way..

also if one can operate a cnc they 99 percent can convert forth n back between dwg-dxf.. so just be careful.. ask twice before outsurcing this work...

You can use Adobe Illustrator do do this.

To simplify what is said above.
-download the FREE program Draftsight
-open your dwg
-do "save-as" dxf (version 2000 is usually the most compatible)
