Hello
Are there any alternative casting compounds that are not as expensive as this one.

That image didn't have any indication of the quantity of material in those tubs, but you might look at some of these companies for similar rubber molding materials:
Smooth-On, Inc. - Mold Making & Casting Materials Rubber, Plastic, Lifecasting, and More
Polytek Development Corp.-Polyurethane & silicone mold materials and casting plastics for making rubber molds to cast concrete, plaster, wax, resins & foam from Polytek Corp.

Thank you for posting.
I need to metion where I am using this compound.
Each time I use about a spoonful.
It needs to retain shape when removed from cavities or holes.
I machine parts and sometimes I need take an impression of the features to measure radii and angles on optical comparator.
Try miapoxy.com formerly called hobbycast. They have decent prices and its available in many set times.

Mostly forgotten but alginate may work, as well as gelatine.
Will not last forever but both have been used in stead of where rubber is mostly used these days.
If you store it well i think gelatine can be reused by heating it again.
