Hi,

I am getting a "5117 N/C unit select error"

The book just shows this error and nothing else.

There is no relay in the ladder, there is however contacts for that error 5117 but no relay. How is this possible?

Anyone know what this error is and/or know how to get rid of it?

The machine is hitachi Seiki VM40
I sent you an email. I trace this error back through the ladder logic and it stems from mem issue, broken directory error 141 something like that.

How did you fix yours?

is the VM40 with a Seicos II control? If so it should be an easy fix. Let me know,

yes, its a seicos II control. I tried everything. Reinializing memory, reloaded parameters..... Still getting 5117 nc select which equates to 141 alarm.

Bob, is this a directory broken alarm? Do me a favor and go to the program in/out screen where you send / receive programs and you should see a listing of available slots and memory/tape length. What are the values on that screen?

I will check, Can I change it there? What are the parameters suppose to be. Someone else is telling me that the machine thinks it is a different controller because of two parameters 4820 and 4821, but I cannot find out where you change those parameters.

a 141 is a directory broken alarm and a 5117 is a sequencer IO error, both easily fixed. Where are you located, I can give you my number and walk you through the process.

I ripped the controls out of the vm40.redid all the wiring and installed new button panel and linuxcnc,

I just brought one of these machines how is your mods going? Have you finished the project yet? Tried to send a message but your mail box is full.

I deleted the messages and it should work now.

My machine is working great now. Just have to do the tool changer. I am in the process of moving the machine now.

I used mesa cards and linuxcnc. Amazing stuff.
