I made a short tutorial on how to organize a DXF file to be cut in a specific order, inside LazyCam/Mach3.
If anyone gets a chance, have a look, let me know If I left anything out.
Thanks,

Another very helpful addition to the Zone!!!
One point also...you can also click on the chain and locate the area on the drawing then drag it (the chain) to the desired location....
Keep em comin
Bob
I use a free DXF 2 gcode (2.5axis) converter called ACE available from http://www.dakeng.com/ace.html 236k.
To get the order of cuts assign layers in your favourite cad program, and make the inner most one on layer 1, next one out on layer 2 and progress outward the fixings. Thus you have one layer for each priority of cutting.
In ACE select the layers you want and assign priority 1 to layer1, 2 to layer2, and so on.
ACE will also allow varying depths of cut. One outstanding feature is that ACE can guess if a broken chain is not meant to be broken by applying a tolerance to the gaps ie, if the broken ends are within (say) 0.01 units then assume they're joined. ACE takes no notice of the radix you used, as it gets that information from the DXF file.
THe one drawback with ACE that irks me is the missing G81 routine.
Would anyone be able to help me with a firering? Plans are to make it out of cold rolled steel and would like it to be in either 4 or 6 pieces so that it can break down for easy storage:
Need the following letters: I B W (stands for international beer weekend)
with beer bottles on the ring. possible 3 pieces with IBW and 3 pieces with beer bottles would be GREAT
THANKS!
Oops!
Thanks. Does anyone have the snap together type fire rings in DXF? Need 3 panels to have IBW (lettering) and a Beer Bottle in the other 3 panels. I have seen these somewhere but cannot find a picture to send. they hook together and store flat.
Thanks~
blackbeard52,
Thanks, I forgot to mention "click on the chain and locate the area on the drawing".

Hello CNC ppl,
I need help, i need a (large) dxf file of pinocchio.
Prefered in full length. Preffered fast. Can any1 help me out here??
*edit*
have found one

What did you use on the 18 ga.mild steel to get the RUSTY look on the pumpkin? Did you use acid/vinegar to get the metal to rust? then apply a clear coat? We are doing several pieces of galvanized metal and soaking them in vinegar to get the rusty finish. When using colled rolled steel, I am wiping the metal down with vinegar but not getting the rusty look I need.
Watt Metal
wattmetal,
Here is the outline (dxf) of a beer bottle.
Maybe this will get you started?

Here is the "IBW" text (dxf).
You will need to scale this & the bottle dxf to fit your project.
