Old Popular Mechanics and Science are on google books and understood to be in the public domain due to copyright not being renewed in the US.

    Popular Science - ditto!

So here are some sources for my games. Nine Men's Mill was from a pre 1923 and thus in the public domain book in the US.

A maze and a puzzle. Public domain from an old book and popular mechanics.

I have some more pics from popular mechanics which are ideas not drawn by me yet. Should I post them as pics for inspiration to you? Not all art as such but some artful and clever stuff? Part cnc router and part other woodwork like the dumbbell toy attached, for example. I have been going through Pop Mech and I am up to April 1922.

Haven't posted on here in years but have come up against a brick wall here; hoping someone is inclined to help. The ship in the pic sank a few months ago in local waters, one survivor. Some time before the sinking, my brother inlaw transferred off this vessel and dodged the bullet. My sister would like a memorial plaque of some sort and this is the best pic we could come up with. My idea was for low-relief 3d but other ideas welcomed. File format doesn't matter for now I guess, just show me your renders. Machine will be a 3 axis mill.Click image for larger version.

    Hy Guys!

Is there anybody who has it in .dxf? I tried to draw this, but I don't know much about Cad programs.

Do you happen to have those grips with the screw hole in them? Thanks in advance!

Re: Share Your Files Part or Art

Hello everybody. I was looking for a DXF for a Seahawks and Raiders (for a coworker) logo and stumbled upon this forum. I wish to thank everybody for all their hard work that went into making them.

For reference, I am using a Flow Waterjet (at work, not a personal machine...) to cut relatively thin (.063") sheet metal that is scrap from other jobs. I do have a question though... why is everybody using thousands of tiny lines instead of curves when making the DXF? Is there a reason for it, or is that just how the process used to create the DXF happens to make it? I haven't cleaned up the Raiders logo, but the Seahawks one had 348 "entities" (all lines). After making curves that match as closely as possible, I got 109 entities. I did have to make a couple of minor adjustments due to the way the Waterjet cuts, but if anybody is interested I can upload the modified DXF (once I figure out how). Flow Waterjets use a proprietary (CAD-like) program so I don't know how well the DXF would work for other machines (such as a laser or CNC mill), but in theory a DXF should be pretty much universal.

Re: Share Your Files Part or Art

The problem with a DXF file is each program can use it a different way. As an example, I use Bobcad for structural drawing. I have not had much trouble with that DXF it outputs. On the other hand, I used a free cad program and had lots of small lines. I now use Corel draw and save as a R14 file and so far have not had trouble with that. Some output splines, others not.

    Hope that helps

    Gary
