Dan
Thanks weldtutor, your the bomb.
Dan
looking at the plans you have i doubt we can get you a set of dxf drawings from them that could be any help to you... better plan might be to mind them on line. this sight has a lot of full plans in dxf for free... try looking through and see if they have the plans you need.

Hi there,
I see you've had these done now. For future reference you CAN do EPS/PDF to DXF with Ghostscript, GIMP and Inkscape...
I posted the step by step means of doing this a while back in the thread... will find the post and add the link below in a bit..
hope this helps
Danny

Hi everyone,
Anybody got some good patterens/templates to be plasma cut from mild steel to use instead of glass as one of the faces of an old victorian street lamp. Not to complicated, must still be able to see some light.
Thanks

The Inkscape 0.47 (BETA) has a small update for DXF files, that will "Save As..." a dxf file that will scale to size, the catch is, it's in mm., & not inch.
The other issue is the new (BETA) dxf will export a R13DXF file, that may not open with some CAD programs, this can be fixed with a free program (A9Converter) that will convert dxf versions from one to the other, I've always found R12DXF files have the best chance to open in a wider selection of CAD programs.
For some strange reason, the guys that build the Inkscape program are stuck on only supporting a single machine "Robo-Master" (scrapbook cutting machine).
The Inkscape site says the new dxf export will write the dxf file faster, I don't see much change.
DXF import and export
DXF export for desktop cutting plotters is much faster than in previous versions. A new option was added to provide support for RoboMaster desktop cutting software. Also, polylines and polysplines are now supported.
DXF import is new. It supports a number of the simpler DXF shapes: line, Bezier spline, ellipse, circular arc, text.
Inkscape 0.46 will only export as pixels for the scale, except for .eps files, which will scale the export to size, I've tested a few .eps exports from 0.46, that all was dead on size when I import to Vectric Cut2D.

I hear ya, I hate painting to! I always tell my wife, I would rather install fiberglass insulation, than paint (Ha!).
Sounds a bit like a decoupage project?

ghostlx,
So all you want is to print the image with your printer?
A faster way, would be to export a .png image from Inkscape, you can control the size, that way.
Why do you want to keep it as an svg?

Thanks again Switcher. The project turned out real nice. Grand-daughter very happy.
I used 6-32 socket head machine screws through the board. Drilled and tapped into the anchors(DuPont Corian) The letters were made from 1/4" aircraft plywood. I made them 1/4" longer on the bottom so I could fit them in a slot cut in the board. They are a snug/tight fit with no other fastening.
