Table is jerking on large files

I am having some trouble with my machine when I load a large file (30 meg) or more, table would jerk occasionally and some times I get a driver warning when I load the file The driver test results are excellent and I upgraded my ram to 1 gig which helped some but I am uncertain what to do next.

I am using a 2.4 ghz dell with a clean install of xp and mach. processor load is less than 50% when running and the feed rate seems to not make any difference.

I am hoping to do even larger groups of files in the future what is the most important hardware for this? Ram? Processor?

Neither. Just turn off the toolpath display and you shouldn't have any problems. The toolpath disaply in Mach3 is very resource intensive, and there really nothing you can do about it.

Hmm tried turning the screen off, it did run smoother but it still has this problem. Then I tried a similar but much smaller file and it does the same thing. This is happening to both steppers on my x at the same time. It just seems to hang for a second then it goes about its way. Never does then when I am jogging.

When you say "turning the screen off", you do mean the toolpath display, right?

On my 1Ghz PIII with 256MB of RAM, i get a delay when jogging with large files loaded. With the toolpath turned off, it runs normally.

Yes I went into diagnostics menu and toggled the toolpath. And the screen turned into a grey box, I had though it was only doing it on the large file, but after testing it with a smaller one in does the same thing whether the display screen is on or not.

Sounds like some software may be interfering. Has it always done this, or did it just start? Is the PC in ACPI mode, or standard. If ACPI, try changing it to standard, although this may require you to re-install Windows.
