    In need of some direction

Hi everyone. I am fairly new to cnc but have 15+ years experience with different types of servos and controllers. My uncle purchased this huge CNC, twin head router about a year ago. From what I gather, a guy came out and started building the programming for it for about a week and has never returned. I want to be able to learn this machine and get it going. It is in running condition and I assume just needs code. I don't know much about it and I was hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have some pictures and will have much further details over the weekend. I do know it has Siemens S7 drives and Siemens servo motors on it. All of the controls look old. I powered it up and it seems to be looking for some sort of software. Can't remember the complaint but similar to a computer with an OS. The display seems to be dos and there is a floppy drive near it. Like I said, I will have better pics and actual part numbers or models of things later. I'm trying to figure what possible software of type of code that this machine may take. This is what I have so far:

Sounds like you really could use some help. A few questions:

    1. Where are you located? Are you in the US?
    2. Who was the "guy" that was there? Was he from Siemens, a dealer, an OEM, or other?
    3. Do you have any pictures of the control? The pictures posted are of the drives only which look to be Siemens SIMODRIVE 611A or 611U.

I am in the US. I'm not sure about the guy that came out. I really think that this was a machine that was maybe rebuilt and sold by a third party dealer maybe. he was not from siemens.
I did get some more info yesterday. It is a Thermwood C50 with 91000 Supercontrol. I really would like to find out what software this machine uses.

You should contact Thermwood for support or the dealer you purchased it from. This is not SINUMERIK control. The drives and motors are Siemens but the control is built by Thermwood. Unfortunately, i don't think Siemens can be of much assistance unless there is a problem with the drives or motors failing. Siemens can repair/replace any of the drive or motor components should any of them not work. Siemens service and support number is 800-879-8079.

For the record, IES is not an authorized Siemens repair facility. Siemens does repair controls, drives, and motors in the US. They can be reached at 800-879-8079.
