Funny you would ask that - I was thinking the same thing. Tried playing with the solid model, but can't figure it out much in Mastercam X.

I keep coming to this thread for inspiration - can't believe those were made on a mini mill.

    The undercuts scare me though.

Nope. Don't think an FFL would be valid up here, nor does the ATF have jurisdiction in Canada. That notwithstanding, I look at it as a challenge. If it were just about having a gun, I would simply buy one.

    you obviously have no idea.

to manufacture a firearm in the US you have to have a license.

go ahead ill see you in the federal pen

It easy to understand. Go to the ATF site, search and you will see that an individual can make even a semi auto for their own use.

btw, its not manufacturing, I'm making it myself, not "manufacturing".

I made mine out of 0% forgings and billets.
What did you do on a 10/22 that was so illegal?
Why on earth would the 1911 dumpster built be so illegal?

Actually making the gun is perfectly legal. If you INTEND to sell them it becomes a whole different ballgame. But what he is doing here is fine. Of course it must conform to the laws. i.e. NO fully automatics, shor short barrels for rifles, shotguns, etc.

Gatling gun grey area. They bend rules in racing, right? I asked around a long time back about gatling gun adaptions. My disability has weakened my hands and arms so I was thinking a stepper motor on a .22 gatling gun with a MPG on the end. Gatling guns are legal due to the way they fire/load/need to be cranked. I'd still need to "crank" it, but it'd be a whole lot easier. I was told, "Build it, let us examine it, and we 'might' let you keep it." Seemed like a real waste of time and effort and expense for a mere might let me keep it.

    Hi Jon,

Those are some great looking guns you built, congrats!

To the other guy: there is nothing illegal with building your own gun, as long as it is legal for you to own the gun. The gun must be yours and yours alone, the only way it can change hands is when it goes to your heir after you die. This is the law the way I received it while researching it before the build. I live in Texas, maybe the laws in your state are different.

I'm not sure why you're making such a strong case about this, go over to Gunco and have a blast.
