    Fanuc software version?

can someone explain what the software number you see on the start-up means?
I have an 0m with 451. it tries to perform a rigid tap with m29 but is having issues.
I have been told the function is "Rigid tapping for M; basic on MATE software 453 but not available on the 0-MA"
can someone interpret that for my situation? should my machine have rigid tapping? is it in the software or the custom made macro cassette?

    what 'issues' are you having?
rigid tapping is listed as an available option on 0M. if you have the required additional hardware pieces you should have it. especially if the rigid tapping program codes are accepted without alarms. if it's not working properly you should contact Fanuc for support/repair.

my machine accepts M29 without errors but hunts for something at the start and end of cycle. I'm not sure if I should have it or not as I don't have any of the 0-MB parameters applicable to rigid tapping. I also don't have the 900 bit set.

I try to avoid fanuc because they charge me $500 just for travel. $500 would buy a floating arbor and I could forget about rigid tapping.

so i'm interested in finding more out about what software is from a problem solving perspective and an educational perspective on how the system works.

    Hi landslide1,

Check your Operators Manual page 166/167.
    G84 for riggid tapping, parameter No. 076 #3 = 1.

Put the M29 in the line just before G84.
This code is for my Fanuc M21i
    ( Metric M8 x 1.25 )

    G95 (mm/rev)
    M29 S750
    G84 R2. Z-15. F1.25

I don't have parameter 076. I'm guessing I need a software update before it will work.

"Rigid tapping for M; basic on MATE software 453 but not available on the 0-MA" I guess after software version 453 you just need a bit set.

the G95 was generating an error 014 (feed per revolution not enabled).
I thought I have used it in the past without issue. could be wrong.
I found the parameter for G95 and now it doesn't have the error. the rigid tapping is working better but there is still way too much thinking at the start and end of the cycle.
