We are quoting a job that has a .600 flat bottom hole 8.125 deep. tolerance on the hole is + - .005. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
Thanks In Advance

Make a flat bottom drill.
First make sure there is a hole.

That's the easy part the hard part is the .600 diameter
Take a 39/64 drill spin it down with little bit back taper and use it like a reamer.
You can put radius or chamfer to lead it in.
That's what we have been considering. Now I just need to find an aircraft drill that size.
uh huh, and my very first question would be right back at the customer, WHY? I find it very common that cute little green horn engineers like to design stuff with absolutely zero clue about manufacturing and it ends up costing the customer. It could very well be this is a shaft bore where the mating shaft could have a nice chamfer which would easily allow a chamfer of a reamer in the bore.
