    Better toolpath....order?

    Hi all,

I am using Pycam to mill out some simple 2.5D profiles. It works, but I am not happy with the order/toolpath. Here is an example.

I am milling out two circles (from a piece of wood, 15mm thick) with a 2mm cutting path depth.

    Resulting toolpath:
--cnc cuts out the first circle at 2mm deep
--then it lifts and moves to the second circle, cuts 2mm deep
--then it lifts and moves back to the first circle, cuts an additional 2mm deeper (total 4mm deep)
--then it lifts back to the second circle and cuts 2mm deeper
    --etc.

I am pretty sure that the tool is wasting time traveling up and over to alternate back and fourth between the two circles. It is possible to just have it cut out one circle completely, then move to the second?
Ie. cut 2mm deep of first circle,
then cut 4mm deep same circle,
    till done with first circle,
then move to second circle and cut it out, 2mm per pass

    Anyone have any advice?

Hi. I have never used Pycam, but from my experience from heeks CNC, I can say, that this can happen, when you choose both circles at the same time, and calcuate the toolpath for both them. Try to choose each circle separetely, and calculate the tool path for them independantly and only then save the gcode. But if you have already done this and it didn't worked, than I'm sorry, as I said, I don't know Pycam.
