Is anyone using the Grex100? I would like to upgrade my CNC router to a more powerful drive than my current HobbyCNC board. There is nothing wrong with my Hobbycnc board other than the fact that I would like to use motors that have more torque and speed than can be driven with the Hobbycnc.

1. can the grex be used with servos or steppers?
2. Is the mach software available yet for the Grex? whatever drive I decide to go with I need have something that will work once it connected correctly as I use my router for producing parts for sale.


Or am I better off purchasing a Gecko 201-212 drives?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Grex does not drive the motors, so you would still need to buy Gecko drives for your motors as well as the G100. Mach 4 is still in beta, and is currently a $50 upgrade for registered users of mach3.

Thanks Ger21 I was unaware of that. looks like I will be purchasing one of the gecko drives. Which one are people using between the (4) 201-212? I don't want to purchase the wrong one.

The 202 has some short circuit protection that the 201 does not. The 210 and 212 are basically 201's and 202's with a step multipler added. If you don't need the step multiplier, get a 201 or 202. If you need it (if you can't output steps fast enough) , get the 210 or 212.
