    Reci tube Beam Adjustment

Hi, I am testing a new 150w RECI tube now. Every time I fire the tube, I got 1 big dot(around 8mm) and 1 small dot(around 1mm) next to the big dot on the testing material.
I thinks there should be only 1 big dot. Do you guys reckon the tube is faulty or it needs to be adjust somewhere?
    Thanks.

This is a RF or co2 Laser tube? You should only have one dot.

RF is the excitation method Paul, RF or DC would be the difference, both are CO2. If it's a RECI it's a glass DC tube.
Two spots can indeed be from a faulty tube but they can also be from a tube with a TEM01 beam profile.

Shizyo, the tube is not user adjustable, check the output coupler (lens) for dirt or damage, the two internal tube mirrors cannot be inspected but can be cracked by too much heat causing a split beam profile.

    cheers

RECI is DC exited CW laser (CW=continuous wave). W/o polarization.
CW lasers works like old light-bulbs. Continuous emission without any polarization.
High class DC lasers may have polarised output beam.

RF laser works like high speed stroboscope lamp + polarised output beam.
But some RF lasers have unpolarised beam.
This happens when laser is made using two or more optically coupled resonators.

In effect yes but in actual terms for continuous wave operation it is necessary for the population inversion of the gain medium to be continually replenished by a steady pump source usually achieved by flowing gas systems. The degree of linear polarization is often defined with the polarization extinction ratio (PER), as the ratio of optical powers in the two polarization directions.
