Losing G54 location? What did I do?

I indicated my bore, and entered the X,Y location into my G54 Fixture offset.
Everything's cool. I hit SAVE, re-checked my Fixture Table, G54, everything looked Ok.
Then I do the rest of my setup, I set my tool lengths, all's well.
When I go to test-run my program, it over-travels, and alarms out.
I check my G54 Fixture Offset, and X,Y are both 0.000
    WHAT THE HELL!!!???
How did I lose my G54?

Hi there.....on a fanuc control system your situation would be created by putting datum values in your setup line of your main program....for example

    G10L2P1X0.Y0.Z0.

If you are using G54 fixture offset then don't put any XYZ datums in your program...for example

    G10L2P1 is all you need

If you ran the first example then the G54 fixture offet would become X0. Y0. and you could go into overtravel depending on which direction your first move was....

    good luck

Ok, I figured out how I screwed up.
I'm still learning the ins & outs of MACH3.
It's a little different than FANUC style controls on most big CNC's.
After I set my G54 location, I sent Z home in order to start setting my tool lengths, then zero'd it out.
Apparently by hitting ZERO next to the readout, it zero'd ALL of my G54 locations.
So now my G54 was X0,Y0,Z0.
Minor inconvenience, but I learned NOT to re-zero anything, after setting G54.

In Mach3, whenever you zero an axis, you're in effect setting an offset for that axis.

Hi Russ.....yeah...easy done with Mach3.....but its a quick learning curve....done the same thing myself when I first started to use it at home a few months back on my lil Chinese router....but its a nice little virtual control panel that can process lots of coding without issues

Mach3 is great at even processing over a million lines of code when I do my carvings....
