    Unnecessary Retracts In Surface Toolpaths

    Hi.

I have a program that has a almost a hour and a half cycle time. The problem is the rough and finish parallel toolpaths generate a Lot of unnecessary
retracts. I am sure this would help reduce the cycle time if I can figure out how to eliminate them. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Many ways to skin a fish...
Seeing the part/surfaces in question would help, but normally the gap settings will help with controlling when retracts happen!

I agree with Bm150, you can change gap settings to only retract at a percentage of stepover or a set distance. Also, I almost always check the optimize toolpath box.

Try setting gap size to distance and put a nice figure in there say 0.04.
    See what you get.

I would try to use constant scallop for that part. It may take a little more effort to get it to work correctly, but your toolpath will probably be much smoother.

I would put it to distance and 1. and most of it will go away. but watch to see what the tool does in the transitions.
