    construction plane and view

    i have a new Mazak 630 2T Variaxis with a trunion table (mill/turn)
im trying to get the correct construction plane and geometry view settings in mastercam x4 -to turn at -90. in EIA. the usual turning application for lathe in Gview AND Cplane is TOP
Now, when table orientates to -90 the machine coordinate system will be that of
    z
    ^

    Y<

now, in eia i have to incorporate the usual G18.2 along with
G10.9 x1(selection of diameter input for X axis) if your values post out diametrically in the X value (i have proved this out in "A" 0 turning)
but the machine coordinate is like explained above
(tools will move in the "Y" & "Z" axis)

    Has anyone experienced this application?
    thanks
    Mike

Do you have a mill/turn post? Are you writing the mill and turn on seperate files?

Unless you have a mill/turn post, MD, CD (or can write one), this could be challenging trying to do in the same file

If you're only trying to get the turn work through posting, this might now be that bad. If you're only on a Lathe seat, would be just a matter of writing the "A-90." as a hard code or through the use of switches built in MI/MR.
Might be able to get it recognize A angle by toolplanes but again, I'm thinking that a lathe post may not support that.
It's just a part..... cutter still goes round and round....

    Trunion Table on a Lathe?

    Something doesn't sound right.

If it's a lathe, you have to move it into the correct orientation. You can use WCS to flip the part for a proper lathe orientation.

Lots of good multi axis lathe stuff in here.

and there's a combo package that covers Lathe, from start to finish.

It even has a generic mulit-axis lathe post included.

The construction plane must be effective. To do this, you must open the contextual menu of the construction plane node and choose or make a double click on this node. It appears on a grey background in the tree view. An unique building plane can be active in a project. Activating a new construction plane, deactivates the old effective construction plane.

    Thanks!
