    Lathe tapping ???

Hey guys I have to tap some some metric threads threads in a shaft on my Okuma LB-15 lathe. Im going to be using a 6mmx1 pitch tap, in a floating tap head.If I run my machine in standard, a feed rate of .0394 per revolution should be ok right???

I usually ran just a hair slower than calculated so the holder can extend.

    Hi,
That will work fine. Just convert the metric pitch to the imperial equivalent. As underthetire said If you are using a floating holder it doesn't hurt to run it fraction slower so it will draw it out a little.
