I have a two axis robot that needs to be dampened. I do have an acceleration routine but it does not help enough.
The carriage is light weight and rolls down a rail that is about 6 feet long, driven by a stepper motor and a spiral cable. I added a graphic to show the general design (below).
I used soft springs and then changed to stiffer elastic but it still jumps when it accelerates. I also notice that the cables chatter some.
What can I do the smooth this thing out?
