Wondering if anyone on here has ever replaced the ball screw on the X axis of a VQC-20/40B. I have new thrust bearings to install but am thinking I may as well send the screw out for rebuilding.
To the best of my knowledge it is the original and never been touched. Both X and Y are noisy and backlash is becoming an issue (same with Y). Hate to go thru the work to replace thrust bearings but not touch the screws.
On the X, would I have to remove the table or could I gain access to the necessary mounting bolts from underneath via the chip pan area? I probably wont be attempting this for at least a month but it's something I need to do sooner or later.
Thanks,
Nate
